Palms Elementary School

The second graders in Mrs. Visnaw/Miss Osterland’s classroom have been enjoying their weekly review of Open Court concepts by playing Capture the Castle. Each week, the kids are divided into five different castles. Each team is asked a question related to the story or concepts covered in Open Court that week. Every team must use their textbook to provide text evidence for their answer. If the team gets the answer correct, they get to attack an opponent's castle by writing an x on their castle. Once a castle gets two x’s the castle is captured and the team members join another castle. The game continues until one castle remains. This is a fun way to review and practice finding text evidence!
